Description

ASPREY, 166 BOND ST. LONDON, ENGLAND, MULTI-BLADE (12) HORSEMAN’S IVORY EXHIBITION KNIFE, c. 1870-80’S, 4 7/8” KNIFE, with 12 blades and two slide outs.  Master sheep foot, large bow saw (for cutting cockspurs), sail needle, saw, triangular leather punch, fleam, manicure with knife point, corkscrew, awl, horse hoof pick, wine bottle cutter & button hook.  The blades have mostly original polish, with some light patina/pitting, no evidence of sharpening or use.  Slide outs include a tortoise shell covered, lancet and toothpick or pricker. There is a space for a third slide out, which is missing.  Attractive white Ivory scales, over milled brass liners, with black scrimshaw logo on the front.  There are some cracks in the ivory, which have been nicely repaired, resulting in a good appearance. Front short screwdriver, with flat substantial nickel silver bail at the front.  Asprey was a high-end jewelry store in London. This is likely a knife made by J. Rodgers & Co. for Asprey.  EX+
