Antiques - Sheffield Dagger, Rare,
"EvanS & Co.. 12 OLD FISH ST. LONDON" are the markings on this 16¾" Bowie knife, circa 1850, with an 11¼" dagger blade that is sharpened on both edges, with a central median ridge on each side of the blade and a fuller in the center of each median ridge. The ricasso is very unusual: it has a pyramidal section in the center, sloping off on both sides to the edges of the blade. The very unusual guard is almost four inches wide with angles going in many directions, highly scalloped. The handle is metal, checkered on the corners, and swelling towards the pommel.
